Freedom Scientific today announced that Dr. Lee Hamilton, President, CEO,
and Chairman of the Board, has resigned to pursue other interests after working with the Freedom Scientific board to find a suitable replacement.
Freedom Scientific is pleased to announce that John Blake will assume the President and CEO role effective immediately.
Mr. Blake’s extensive management experience and background in consumer technology products, both hardware and software,
is an excellent fit for Freedom Scientific. Mr. Blake has over 20 years of leadership and functional experience at Eastman Kodak,
most recently as a Corporate Vice President at Kodak where Mr. Blake served as the Global General Manager of the digital capture and
devices business and prior to that as the Global General Manager for the Professional Photography Business. Earlier in his career he
had various roles in finance, product management, and marketing. Mr. Blake has a Bachelors’ Degree in Economics from the University of
Rochester and an MBA in Finance from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Dr. Hamilton joined Freedom Scientific in 2002 and has led the organization to become the world leader in software and hardware
solutions for those who are low vision or blind. Under his leadership, the company expanded into the low vision hardware market in 2006,
and Freedom Scientific now offers a full line of desktop, portable, and handheld video magnifiers. He also led the redesign of the Braille
display products, and Freedom Scientific is now the world leader in refreshable Braille. With a major release every year, JAWS® screen reading
software has increased its share of the blindness software market, while MAGic® screen magnification and OpenBook® scanning and reading software
increased market share with major new releases of both programs.
