The DevOps Team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting the product development, build, release, and deployment platform and the physical and virtual infrastructure on which it is built. The platform is used daily by our engineers to code, debug, test, compile, package and release software and hardware products. DevOps manages resources across a hybrid on-premises/cloud environment. The DevOps team is responsible for engineering and supporting successful product releases for the hardware, software, and web services engineering teams.
The DevOps Engineer oversees the use, maintenance, and evolution of our platform including:
source control and configuration management
development and build environment
automated build system processes and infrastructure
DevOps Engineers provide customer support directly to the Engineering teams for issues related to the development platform. The ideal candidate is independent, curious, detail-oriented, and thrives in a dynamic environment supporting a variety of systems and users. The candidate must be able to collaborate effectively with a remote team that is geographically distributed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor ticketing system and triage and respond to support requests from internal customers
Monitor and maintain Engineering infrastructure in coordination with IT
Triage and troubleshoot problems with Engineering processes and systems
Work with senior staff to maintain and evolve development platform
Work closely with Engineering to support software release cycles
Support and maintain source code branching and release strategies
With senior staff, design and implement internal tooling to improve the development process for Engineers
Document tools, processes, and standards
Participate in code reviews
Occasionally work off-hours to support releases or deployments, maintenance events, or unplanned outage recovery
Work hours must span at least half of East Coast business hours.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in Configuration Management, DevOps, IT, Full Stack Development, or Software Engineering
Conversationally fluent in English; ability to read and write fluently in English.
Experience with one or more scripting languages (PowerShell preferred)
Knowledge of compilers and packaging tools (MSBuild, WiX, Microsoft Visual Studio preferred)
Administration of CI/CD servers and agents (GoCD preferred)
Administration and maintenance of source control management tools (Perforce preferred)
Experience deploying, maintaining, and managing virtual infrastructure (VMWare preferred)
SQL Server design and administration
General knowledge of networking protocols, authentication, security best practices
Windows system administration experience
Full-stack application development (C#/.NET, RESTful APIs, WISA and/or LAMP stack)
Cloud Services (AWS preferred)
IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible preferred)
Linux system administration experience
Containerization (Docker, Windows Containers)
A typical salary range for this position is $75K- $85K and will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience.
