The Product Manager is a key role in the organization, with full ownership and responsibility for Vispero’s Low Vision & Blindness Accessibility Technology Hardware product lines. This includes product strategy, product/feature roadmap, business analysis, and product feature/function definition. Product Managers are instrumental in providing cross-functional leadership in the development, launch and support of their products – helping bridge the gap between various functional areas within the company, such as engineering, operations, sales, marketing, and support. Product Managers must possess both the strategic and visionary skills necessary to define product needs, and the tactical project management skills necessary to lead new product development (NPD) from inception, through design & engineering to mass production launch and eventual end of life.
This role will report directly to the VP of Hardware Products.
Vispero has U.S. offices in Clearwater, FL and Huntington Beach, CA. However, we offer the flexibility of a remote work location for this role with occasional travel to company offices and industry tradeshows as needed.
A Product Manager’s job includes defining product strategy, developing a business case, defining & prioritizing product requirements, and establishing product/feature roadmaps. Part of this responsibility involves gathering customer research, conducting competitive intelligence, and monitoring industry and technology trends. Outbound responsibilities include product messaging and customer communications.
Product Managers are responsible for leading the cross-functional project teams to bring a product to market. These tasks include working with:
The engineering (HW & SW) team to plan, design & build the product
Operations to manufacture and distribute the product
Sales and marketing to manage product pricing, messaging, customer communication, and product launches
Technical support to ensure readiness to support the product after launch and during its lifetime
After product launch, Product Managers are responsible for:
Monitoring the success and performance of a product, including sales trends, margin trends, mix trends, and other KPI’s tracking the product market and customer success
Defining and implementing strategies for improvement as necessary, such as additional marketing, sales promotion and pricing actions, planning maintenance or enhancement releases and/or new features.
Specific Job Duties
Product Strategy – The Product Manager is responsible for defining a product vision and strategy and communicating this to the cross-functional NPD project team to ensure alignment and buy-in to support the product. They lead the NPD project team to execute on the product strategy to achieve success.
Ideation – Product Managers own ideation, the process of generating and curating new ideas. They collect and promote the most relevant ideas into features, the ones that will achieve key objectives for the product line and business. They also ensure that key feedback and requests are seamlessly integrated into their product planning and development processes to achieve competitive differentiation and a strong value proposition.
Business case management – Product Managers own the business case for the new features or products and set the priority based on input from other stakeholders.
Feature definition – The Product Manager defines the features and requirements necessary to deliver a complete product to market and lead the NPD project team to success. They are responsible for communicating the ‘what’ and working with engineering, operations, sales, and technical support to determine the ‘how’ & ‘when.’
New Product Development – The Product Manager leads the NPD team in the planning, design, & engineering execution of the project plan that will achieve launch of a successful product. A successful product is one that meets defined product performance, features, schedule commitments, and business requirements that complement and augment the Vispero product portfolio.
Go-to-market – The Product Manager is responsible for making product decisions and often is the lead resource for the rest of the organization when deep product expertise is required. This includes supporting the organizations that help bring the product to market on schedule and working directly with customers, namely marketing, sales and support.
Life cycle management – The Product Manager is responsible for the full product life cycle, from inception, through development, product launch, and end of life.

Big-picture thinking – Able to understand the Low Vision & Blindness market, customers’, and users’ needs and how to best meet those needs.
Have the skills to define products based on discussions with Sales & customers/dealers, UX/HF assessments, product management discussions, engineering discussions, etc.
Demonstrate motivation to consistently act as a customer advocate during the NPD cycle (for both external and internal customers).
Have strong business knowledge and ability to complete in-depth business/financial analyses (TAM, SAM, SOM, GM$, GM%, NPV, etc.) is required
Have the skills needed to make effective cost-benefit decisions about the business and product.
Having the ability to dynamically switch between strategic, long-term thinking and tactical, short-term execution thinking is a strong requirement.
Leadership skills – can effectively lead teams and individuals, even without direct supervisory control over them. Must possess ability to prioritize and project manage tasks that enable execution of NPD projects and launch successful products in a resource constrained environment.
Familiarity and experience with Low Vision & Blindness conditions and products is strongly desired. At a minimum, promising candidates will demonstrate an understanding of the visual impairment market & corresponding user needs and a strong motivation to learn and become an expert in these areas in a relatively short time.
Working independently – The ability to work with minimal supervision and escalate as needed and appropriate is required.
Communication – Strong written & verbal communication skills are required. This includes the ability to effectively communicate at both executive management level and tactical project team level.
Conflict management – The ability to gracefully handle conflicting goals of different project team members is required.
Teamwork – consistently demonstrate the ability to work in and with cross-functional teams.
Process improvement – have the ability and motivation to continuously improve the product lifecycle management process to achieve greater efficiency & effectiveness with NPD project execution.
Familiarity with the visual impairment product industry and related markets
An expert understanding of our products and their value proposition and how Low Vision & Blind users use the products.

The typical salary for this position is in the $112,000-$150,000 range and varies based on location, skills and experience level.
