The role will help setup a new organization responsible for sustaining engineering of existing products, replacement for EOL components and improving product reliability, in terms of hardware and software. The sustaining organization will support operational efficiency, through design proficiency, reduced COGS and improving production output.

Responsibility sustaining hardware activities, includes trouble-shooting, diagnostic and performance testing and SW/HW design improvement initiatives
Specify, qualify, and design alternate components into existing products
EOL planning of major components in existing products
Hardware design improvements including schematic design/capture, PCB layout, and testing to resolve issues encountered in released products
Evaluate, manage, and implement design changes
Design to value/cost for existing products
Propose process improvements to resolve issues in design and production
Assist with cross-department technical/troubleshooting training on new and existing products
Documentation of design, specification targets and test work
Provide operations guidance on proposed changes and support suppliers/internal production facilities with change documentation
Collaborate cross departments, including R&D, new product engineering and sales organizations
Excellent PC skills in Windows, Excel, Word and Power Point.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Required – Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math. M.B.A. preferred.
Preferred – Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and SPC experience.
Preferred – 2+ years of professional experience in hardware and/or software development
Preferred – 2+ years of engineering management or service experience in medical device or similar industries
