Freedom Scientific today announced a powerful new keyboard, developed for users of its MAGic® screen magnification software.
The keyboard is in U.S. English with bold, high-contrast keys, and provides convenient, one-touch access to commonly used MAGic and JAWS® commands. Features include:
- Bold, high-contrast keys
- Scroll wheel to control magnification level
- 22 dedicated keys to instantly start MAGic and provide quick access to the most-used MAGic features
- A reduced learning curve for easy training
- Benefits for JAWS users, with or without MAGic
- Dedicated keys for functions such as speech rate, Research It, the links list, and more
- Three keys reserved for user assignment to favorite MAGic functions, applications, documents, or Web pages, so they’re only a key press away
Dusty Voorhees, Senior Product Manager at Freedom Scientific, says, “Current and future MAGic users will benefit from the ease of use of the large print keyboard.
“In addition to the distinctive, high visibility keys, users will appreciate the dedicated keys for commonly used functions. This will provide a much simpler experience than remembering keyboard commands involving modifier keys and will reduce the learning curve for new users considerably.”
The keyboard will also be of benefit to users of Freedom Scientific’s JAWS screen reading software, either when it is used stand-alone or in conjunction with MAGic. For instance, right next to the arrow keys, the keyboard provides one-touch access for adjusting your speech rate. There are also single keys for the links list, Research It, and other common JAWS functions.
The keyboard will sell for $79.00. It will be available at the CSUN Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference to be held in San Diego in mid-March.
