Freedom Scientific today announces the annual release of the 2023 versions of the leading screen access products, JAWS® for Windows, ZoomText®, and Fusion™.
In addition to updated support for Windows 11, Microsoft Office, and Chromium-based browsers, significant new features include:
- Smart Glance for JAWS; quickly find text that visually stands out on a web page
- Enhancements to Notification History in JAWS; create more powerful rules and customize existing rules
- JAWS support for ARM 64 devices
- Speech synthesizer updates; fixes a stability issue caused by an audio management application found on most Dell computers
- Tethered View; makes it easier to view and interact with dynamically changing text when using ZoomText for screen magnification
Our commitment to providing cutting-edge screen reading technology continues with the introduction of Smart Glance for web pages and PDF documents. JAWS users can now quickly locate text or controls that visually stand out on the screen but are not marked up with traditional web page markup. ZoomText users will find the new Tethered View helpful when trying to locate text that dynamically changes on the screen, such as in the Windows Start Menu or when viewing comments in Microsoft Word. The text that is changing will now appear next to the currently focused location.
After installation, users will benefit from the auto migration of their prior settings, including any braille device and setup they were using. For users who struggle transitioning to new versions, this will make that process much easier.
