On June 29, Matt Ater, General Manager of TPG, will speak to visually impaired students participating in the Robotics and Cyber Academy sponsored by Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI). Matt will be discussing his experience as a visually impaired person in the workforce and giving advice for navigating the working world.

The DBVI has partnered with The Cyber Innovation Center to provide four and a half days’ worth of hands-on, interactive, and cyber-themed activities for up to twenty-eight DBVI and Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) students in Richmond, Virginia. This year’s academy is co-sponsored by Career Pathways for Individual with Disabilities.

As part of the academy, students are introduced to concepts of coding and engage with subject matter experts to learn some of the theories and practices of computer science. These hands-on and interdisciplinary projects increase participation in Cyber/STEM related academic pathways and ultimately lead to the creation of more Cyber/STEM professionals.
